Advent Wreath

Advent is a special time in my family.  For the four weeks before Christmas, we gather around our advent wreath in prayer.  It is a simple green wreath with four candles.  The first purple candle symbolizes HOPE in the coming of our Lord. The second purple candle symbolizes PEACE.  The third candle is pink and gives us JOY, for the waiting is almost over.  The fourth candle represents LOVE.  These are the values we reflect on to prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ.  This is our daily reminder to keep Christ in Christmas, and the keep holy during the holidays.

Quilling a Tree

Inspired by one of my favorite poems, Trees by Joyce Kilmer

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast

A tree who looks to God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair.
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who lives intimately with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
but only God can make a tree.

Collaboration Revives Enthusiasm for Quilling

Since I'm training for the 3-Day Walk in November, I haven't had much time nor inspiration to quill.   One of my teammates is a graphic artist and designed some cards that we embellished.  I was excited putting a new spin on my quilling, collaborating with others and having fun!  All for a good cause.  Proceeds of all sales will go to our team for San Diego's 3-Day Walk for the Cure in November.

Rainy Day = Quilling Day!

I love rainy days!  Today was a chance to slow down amid the hectic pace of life.  My daughter's game was cancelled, and I enjoyed my pajama day!

A spin-off from the royal flower technique, made butterflies to signify the arrival of spring.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here's to a slower pace of life today.

Listen to the rhythm of the pouring rain...

Multitasking

Yay, Meryl Streep!  Loved her performance in the movie Iron Lady.  I had to root for her, but still stay productive.  Needed to make happy flowers, and decided to make the beginnings of sunflowers.
